“This song will save lives by raising awareness about the existence of the global stem cell register and encourage people to sign up as stem cell donors. We don’t want your money we want your time” says Peter. “This isn’t a ‘pity me’ story, it’s about being proactive and taking control of an awful situation. I hope it moves them to get involved to help save lives” I hope people get it, I hope they can hear the heartbreak and euphoria in it. The Tide is that inevitability, the new life you find within when facing such a reality in yourself and with loved ones. “I want to do him and others in his position justice. “I wanted this song to break your heart and then put it back together, which is what happened when I read Pete’s blogs” says Lee. Taking on words from his blog, the song hits home the very harsh truth, that unless he finds a stem cell donor, Pete may only have 4 more Christmas’ left with his wife Jenn and 2 boys Max and Seb. It touches on his highs and lows and lays bare the brutal reality of living with cancer. The song takes you through 3 years of Pete’s life since diagnosis. In support of his cause, he’s teamed up with award-winning singer songwriter Lee Gordon a veteran of the underground music scene, to produce a song he hopes will mobilise the world to remedy a very fixable problem. He is still looking for his own match but his campaign has found 12 for other patients world wide. He founded the Cheshire based campaign to encourage people to sign up as potential stem cell donors, after realising how hard it is to find a match with only 2% of the UK and 0.4% of the global population signed up.
